The shop
Sheet Metal Fabrication
Copings, parapet caps, flashing and metal wall panels, bent in our own shop to national SMACNA standards.
Chapter 01
What sheet metal does on a roof, and where it fails
The membrane or the shingle gets the attention, but the sheet metal is what keeps water out at the edges. Copings and parapet caps cover the top of a wall. Flashing turns water away from every place the roof meets something else. Metal wall panels carry the same job down the face of the building.
Sheet metal fails at its joints and corners. A cap with too little slope holds water against the wall. A lap with too little overlap lets wind-driven rain in. Metal expands and shrinks with the temperature, so a run that is fixed too tight will pull at its fasteners season after season, and a sealant joint will not outlast a properly lapped one.
Corners are where a cheap shortcut shows first. A stock corner piece rarely fits a real parapet, and the gap it leaves is exactly where a leak starts. Pieces bent to the building leave less to chance.

How New Castle fabricates
The shop is part of the business, not an outside supplier. As the company puts it: “The leadership in this section of our business has gone through an extensive 5 year program to qualify as journeyman level craftmanship.”
On standards, New Castle is plain about it: “All of our guidelines for our sheet metal work conform to the national SMACNA standards”. And on the quality of the work: “New Castle Systems LLC considers its fabrication and installation of sheet metal systems to be well above average.”
Because the fabrication is in-house, the company says it saves you time and money by cutting out the middle man. The pieces are made in Wapato and installed by the same company, so a measurement taken on your roof goes straight to the brake.
Chapter 03
The work you can see
The photos below are New Castle jobs. Crenellated parapet caps fabricated for a commercial building and a tower. Red corrugated wall panels. Black vertical metal siding on a modern two-story building. A blue wall panel over stone. A black conical standing seam roof on a round building, with the mountains behind it.
If you are planning a parapet, a wall cladding or a roof edge in the Yakima Valley, call and describe it. Small jobs are welcome, and photos of the wall or roof edge help us understand what needs to be made.

Bent to the building
The same shop that makes the caps makes the panels. For the roofs they sit on, see metal roofing and commercial roofing.
